Bertrand Road Bridge

The 1927 Bertrand Road bridge over the Waitara River near New Plymouth was in a poor state and in 2003 was being considered for demolition.  Frame Group assisted conservation architect Chris Cochrane in preparation of a conservation plan and methodology for restoring this magnificent suspension bridge.  The local community raised the $630,000 for the restoration work, which was specified and managed by Frame Group.  After having been closed for several years, the bridge is open again for pedestrians and light vehicles, allowing locals and visitors to enjoy this remnant of heritage engineering from our pioneering era.
