Frame Group is very excited to have played a key role in the successful reopening of land-based access to the extremely popular, and iconic, Cathedral Cove Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula. Access had been closed for almost two years following severe weather events destroying parts of the walkway. Frame Group attended the official opening on Sunday 1 December that was led by the Minister of Conservation, Tama Potaka. Working with the Department of Conservation @docgovtnz and Ngāti Hei, Frame Group designed and construction managed the approved temporary solution. The solution includes stairs, boardwalk (incorporating cultural design elements), boxed steps and track. Prior to this work, Frame Group worked with DOC and Ngāti Hei, together with Tonkin & Taylor in respect of geotechnical considerations, on a Feasibility Study to provide options in respect of both temporary and permanent land-based access solutions. The opening on Sunday achieves the publicly stated goal of the Minister to have access reopened for this summer season. When you visit take a photo and be sure to tag us! This project, like many others our team has had the privilege to work on, will have a long and lasting impact on both ourselves and the community - allowing all members of the community to experience kauri and other native bush at tree-top level. Wow, what a busy couple of months it has been here at Frame Group. We are excited to show you all the things we have been busy with. Check this one out: Brian and Jenna carried out the construction monitoring / inspections of precast concrete footings and slabs for the construction of a new causeway crossing between Rangitoto Island and Motutapu Island. Jenna was excited for the opportunity to provide the design drawing as she has fond memories of crossing the existing causeway and making the trek to the @Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp.

To prepare for the future, environmentally sensitive structures are required that can cope with extreme weather and flooding together with climate change, potential earthquakes, and changing visitor trends. The team is utilising early geotechnical, hydrological, and structural studies so that the long-term future of these community assets can be properly understood.
